Essential Reading For Your LGV Driving Test To give yourself the best opportunity to pass your test, there are several tips you should know well in advance. To drive confidently and safely in LGV tests, having additional information as well as fantastic preparation is always essential. Paul Williams Training Services want all drivers to pass LGV courses as soon as possible, with complete confidence driving.
Preparing For Your Driving Test In addition to your LGV driving test, there are several other areas of the course that will need to be completed in order for you to pass. This includes your LGV theory test which will be split into two parts, Multiple Choice and Hazard Perception. Our training courses should help you prepare for your hazard perception and some of the multiple choice questions and once your theory test is complete, you can move onto your final practical skills test.
Once your theory test is complete, we will offer several refresher courses and can make sure you have full confidence with LGVs before booking in your test. With our training courses, we make sure every aspect of the test has been considered and you are prepared for any possible situation. We want all drivers to pass first time and have great confidence going into your test.
Independent Driving To begin your LGV practical driving test, you will start with independent driving. Your instructor will either tell you to follow road signs or they will give you directions until you reach your destination. This demonstrates that you can drive safely on your own with very little guidance. Whilst this will not take up your entire test, you must have enough confidence to drive on your own without any issues.
As the test lasts around 90 minutes, you must remain focused throughout as you will have to drive for long periods of time once you are qualified. With your practical test being split up into two parts, Driving Ability and Practical Demonstration, your driving ability will be fully tested with reversing and parking skills also being required.
Practical Demonstration The second part of your LGV driving test will be your practical demonstration. During this, you will have to complete the final test in the CPC regimen. All candidates will be tested on five topics taken from the CPC syllabus. These topics can cover a range of LGV related knowledge, including:
Assessing Emergency Situation Conducting Walkaround Checks Loading Vehicles Safely Preventing Illegal Immigrant Trafficking
For each topic in the test, you can score up to 20 points. To pass the test, you must achieve at least 80 out of 100. Along with passing your independent driving, this will make sure that you are fully qualified to drive LGVs, with immediate results as your examiner will give you feedback on your success once the test is finished.
The Driving Ability and Practical Demonstration part of your LGV driving tests are known as stage 3 & 4.
Preparation & Training Courses It is important to find the best training courses to fully prepare you for your LGV driving test. Our team offer fantastic courses to make sure your driving skills are completely refreshed or if you have no previous experience, you are in line with industry standards.
